PistachioLand: Sustainable Farming Practices
Farming in the desert, even a desert crop like pistachios, can be challenging at best. The soil is a reddish-brown clay, rocky, caliche ground which water does not penetrate easily. We utilize drip irrigation to augment the minimal 6 inches of annual rainfall. Unwanted weeds pop up wherever a drop of water reaches. Temperatures can warm up to 105 degrees F on summer days. A great photo opportunity right before or after you come inside our log cabin country store and try our fabulous pistachios, pistachio candies, farm-made wines and of course, our farm-made pistachio ice cream. A great location close to the city of Alamogordo, our off-site farm store has all of the same delicious farm-made products visitors can find at our main PistachioLand farm store.

Come on out and take our open-air tour ride around the pistachio orchard and vineyard. Learn all about our family farming history and how we grow, harvest and produce delicious pistachios and wines.
