The McGinn family started growing pistachios in the Tularosa Basin in 1980. This area in southern New Mexico has an arid climate ideal for growing pistachios. Tom McGinn, the founder, and his son Tim harvested the first substantial crop in 1988. The original 40 acre farm has grown to 111 acres today with over 12,000 pistachio trees and 14 acres of wine grapes.
The McGinn family grows the best selection of award winning pistachio nuts. We also make fabulous wines from our vineyards. We KNOW they're the best because we grow them, package them, make candy with them.....everything from the ground to the final packaged product and we guarantee you will find these Pistachios and Wines to be the best anywhere! Motorized Farm Tours are offered daily. Adverse weather may delay or cancel tours.

In October 2010, the movie "This Must Be The Place" filmed around Alamogordo and at the World's Largest Pistachio at PistachioLand. In December 2012, Larry the Cable Guy filmed part of an episode "Lost in Space" of "Only in America" at McGinn's Country Store and the World's Largest Pistachio. The episode aired in May 2013. The Today Show's Al Roker and Matt Lauer toured PistachioLand and the World's Largest Pistachio. Their PistachioLand adventure aired on the Today Show on May 10, 2016. Look for the World's Largest Pistachio to air on t.v. again in summer of 2018. Also filmed in Ride with Norman Reedus on AMC in February 2017 and Ozzy & Jack's World Detour on A&E in 2018.
